Christmas Sugar Cookies

Ingredients
Cookies
- 1 cup shortening
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
- 4 cups flour
- 1 cup sour milk (milk + 1 tablespoon white vinegar)
Frosting
- powdered sugar
- butter, softened
- milk
- vanilla
Instructions
Cookies
- Mix all ingredients besides the flour and milk.
- Alternating, add flour and milk.
- Cover and refrigerate overnight.
- When rolling, add lots of flour to keep dough from sticking.
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees, cut out cookies and place on cookie sheets lined with parchment paper.
- Bake 5-8 minutes. Let cool.
- Frost and decorate.
Frosting
- Mix to form stiff frosting
