Homemade Corn Tortillas

Ingredients

  • 2 cups masa harina
  • 2-3 tablespoons of flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon of salt
  • 1 1/3 cups of warm water

Instructions

  1. Set oven to warm.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together masa, flour, and salt.
  3. Gradually add warm water using a wooden spoon until ingredients are well blended. Knead for 20-30 seconds.
  4. Divide the dough into 12 golf size balls. Place in an oven safe dish and cover with a damp dish cloth to keep warm in the oven.
  5. Using wax paper, press tortillas with a press or roll out. Press each tortilla carefully.
  6. Heat griddle to medium high heat with oil. Cook each tortilla 30 seconds, flip and cook one minute, then flip and cook one more minute.
  7. Transfer cooked tortillas to a tortilla warmer or an oven safe dish.

Notes:

It's helpful to cook two tortillas at a time and to use a stop watch.
